POE essentially allow you to pass electric power and data over ethernet cable to powered devices (PD) such as wireless access points, cameras, VOIP systems etc. In data networking and cabling they allow you to create extended powered networks. POE injectors provide power when a network switch is available that is not already POE enabled and act as a bridge between powered devices that would not otherwise be able to power off of your network switch.
