The above cable is fitted with a 5 Amp Fused UK Plug and an IEC C13 connector and is frequently mistaken for a kettle lead. This is because the IEC C13 is almost identical to a connector that was commonly found on kettles up until the 1970s / 80s. The connector that was actually used to power up a kettle is still in use today to power up hungry servers and is known colloquially as a "Hot Connector" or "Hot Condition Cable" or to give it it's correct modern-day technical name, an IEC C15.
