16 Amp Rated C19 to C20 Power Cables

Voltage drops over distance due to the resistance of the cable i.e. the more cable there is (length) the more resistance there will be, but the resistance causes heat and so the longer the cable is the warmer it gets and the warmer it gets the less current it is able to carry. This is generally overcome by upgrading to a cable with a larger conductor. As standard we use a cable with CSA (cross-sectional area) of 1.5mm² on this 16 Amp rated lead however, 1.5mm is the maximum size conductor that can safely be fitted to a C19 or C20 connector and so, allowing for laws of Voltage Drop, 20M is the longest cable we are able to make. However, if 16 Amps must be carried further than 20 Metres then flex with a CSA of 2.5mm (or larger, depending on length) must be used. For this we can use BS4343 (Commando Style) plugs and sockets.
